How do you make your coffee selections each month?

We start your coffee journey by including two different, single origin coffees with varying taste and aroma profile. We then look forward to your ratings for these coffees to begin discovering your preferences. We repeat this process for the first 2-3 months with different single origin coffees. Beginning from 3rd or 4th month, we include coffees that better match your taste preferences. You don't need to rate your coffees after 3-5 times. Throughout your journey, you will be able to view your coffee profile evolve in your personal dashboard.


I loved the coffee in my last coffee box, can I get it once more?

Absolutely. You can choose the option in rating: "Perfect! Same next month" for the coffee that you would like to receive again. We will do our best to include the same coffee in the following month, otherwise definitely in the month after as our priority is to offer you the freshest roast (within your taste profile, of course). It may be possible that we have run out of green beans for that particular coffee, and in that case, we will provide the next best coffee within your coffee profile.


What is special about your coffee quantity in each subscription box?

The two different subscription quantities provide enough coffee for 4 weeks, considering inake of 1 cup of coffee per day. The "One Person" coffee subscription assumes an intake of single-shot of coffee per cup, and 1 cup of coffee per day. Whereas the "Two People" coffee box is for individuals who prefer a double-shot of coffee for their cup, or for two individuals drinking single-shot coffee.

Why does the roast freshness matter?

Coffee quality starts to degrade after roasting. The roasted coffee loses more than half of its flavour in 15-20 days after roasting, and even more once the beans have been grounded. However, it is equally important to let the coffee rest for at least 4 days after roasting to allow the carbon dioxide (CO2) gas to escape from the coffee beans, which would otherwise give a very bitter taste to the coffee. The degassing of the coffee is the reason we have one-way valves in our coffee bags to allow CO2 to escape.

As a result, the best coffee tasting experience is when the coffee beans are freshly roasted, from a few days to a month before brewing the coffee. This ensures you find the sweet spot between freshly roasted and degassed coffee for that perfect cup. Some coffees, especially dark roast coffees taste better as they age (sometimes 3-4 weeks).


Where do you roast the coffee?

We roast at Canadian Roasting Society in Verdun, Montreal, where we roast alongside several other talented coffee roasters and therefore, we get the opportunity to share knowledge (and have fun).

How do I sign up for the monthly coffee subscription?

To sign up for Roasted Bean Box’s monthly subscription, head to our Subscription page and enter your initial preferences. We will ask you a few simple questions about your roast preference, quantity and bean preparation. You can then follow the checkout process where you will fill in your shipping and billing information.

What are the subscription options?

There are two membership options. You are able to sign up for either a “Single Person” subscription ($16.95) or a “Two People” subscription ($28.50). With the “Single Person” monthly subscription, you will receive two 170 g (6 oz.) coffee bags. With the “Two People” monthly subscription, you will receive two 340 g (12 oz.) coffee bags.


What is included in my monthly Roasted Bean Box subscription?

You will receive a coffee box containing 2 different types of specialty coffees. Depending on your subscription, the total coffee quantity could either be 340 g (12 oz.) with a “Single Person” subscription, or 680 g (24 oz.) with a “Two People” subscription. Note that you can change your subscription type (quantity) at any time.


When does my subscription renew?

When you first sign up, you will be charged immediately for your first order. Your subscription then renews every 4 weeks from the date of your first purchase. If you would like to update your delivery frequency (ex. every 2 or 3 weeks), then you can email us requesting the change. There is no long-term commitment; you can skip a delivery, change delivery date, pause or cancel your subscription at any time via your account.


How do I skip, make changes, or cancel my membership?

You can make changes to your membership - including changing your shipping address, payment details, skipping a delivery, changing next delivery date or cancelling your membership - by signing into your Account.

Note that if you make any changes after the 2-day cutoff period, they will not apply to the upcoming box, but will take effect for the next billing date.


Is there a minimum subscription length?

There is no minimum subscription length and there is no option for a long-term commitment. You can cancel your subscription at any time before your 2-day cutoff period.

Where do you deliver?

We deliver within the Greater Montreal Area (GMA). However, due to distance limitations, we are currently unable to ship to the following neighbourhoods: Blainville, Chateauguay, Mirabel, Notre-Dame-de-I'lle-Perrot, Saint-Jerome, and Terrebonne.


When does my order ship?

You will receive your first coffee box within 2 days of your order. Currently, our delivery days are Wednesdays and Fridays.

Feel free to contact us at info@roastedbeanbox.com if you need to arrange for a different shipping date (Wednesday or Friday).


I missed my delivery. What do I do now?

Our team will notify you of the delivery 1 day in advance and give you a 3 hour delivery window. You can notify us, via email, if you would like your delivery to be put on hold or any delivery instructions. In case there is no one to receive the delivery, we will leave the coffee box safely at the entrance.


What should I do with the Roasted Bean Box packaging?

Nothing in our packaging needs to go in the garbage.

1. Shipping box: We strongly encourage you to reuse your shipping box every time, until you think the box cannot be reused. You will also receive $1 for each reuse, and the amount credited towards your following order. Otherwise, our mailer box is made of corrugated cardboard, which is entirely recyclable and compostable. To recycle, just drop the box in your recycle bin. To compost, break the box into small pieces so the box can compost much faster than the 6 months’ usual time for this size.

2. Coffee bags: Our coffee bags are made of 100% compostable material, including the valve (there is no use of metal foil inside). However, the tin ties and the stickers on the bags are recyclable. Please ensure to remove both the tin ties and stickers from the coffee bags before composting.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards. Unfortunately, we cannot accept checks or cash.


Is my credit card information secure?

Our payment processing is managed by Stripe, one of the largest online payment processors in the world. All credit card information is stored on their encrypted servers, which are compliant with strict security regulations. Stripe manages billions of dollars in online payments annually, and is our partner of choice to ensure the security of our customers' payment information.

How do I give the Roasted Bean Box subscription as a gift?

You are able to gift our monthly coffee box subscription by heading to our Gift Page. From there you can select the quantity of the coffee you would like to gift and the duration of your gift subscription. You will then enter the name and email of the recipient, along with a gift message. You can also schedule the gift email for a specific date.

When your recipient receives your e-gift in their email, they will be able to redeem the gift, set up their own account and customize their monthly coffee subscription as per their preferences. The recipient also receives your gift note in their first coffee box.


How does the payment work for a gift?

All gift options are one-time payments that do not renew. Based on the duration of the subscription you would like to give, you will be required to pay for the entire subscription at once.


Until when can my recipient redeem his or her gift?

Your gift never expires, which means your recipient can use it anytime.


Are there special options for corporate or bulk gifting?
